News & EventsFebruaryShowcasing 3 Ghanaian Software StartupsBrief description TAN partners with Meltwater Foudation to introduce 3 Ghanaian software start-ups to the TAN community. These 3 early-stage Ghanaian software start-ups are currently housed in the Meltwater Foundation's incubator in Accra, Ghana and will be traveling to the Bay Area during the week of February 21st through 25th. They will be attending the LAUNCH conference (www.launch.is) and their companies will be showcased in the LAU...NCH Pad Demo Pit. Two co-founders from each of the companies will be on hand at the TAN event, and will be able to showcase their products, and share more about their experiences starting software companies in West Africa. Additionally, they will share some ways in which interested parties living in the Bay Area can get involved in the budding software industry in Sub-Saharan Africa. The companies are: · NandiMobile - providing SMS-based customer support solutions for the developing world · RetailTower - providing solutions for online retailers to more effectively price and manage their inventory across comparison engines · Streemio - providing a music-related mobile solution for the developing world All of the entrepreneurs are graduates of the non-profit Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology (MEST) in Accra, Ghana, where they received training on various aspects of software development, entrepreneurship, and international business as part of a two-year post-graduate training program. Their companies have received initial seed funding from the Meltwater Foundation (the organization behind MEST).
